Psychotherapy Is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between the individual(s) and psychologist. Dr. Foster caters to each person and their particular situation to maximize treatment outcomes. she works closely with other medical professionals to create an optimal outcome.

Neuropsychology
A neuropsychologist is a clinical psychologist who specializes in understanding the relationship between the physical brain and behavior.  Certain illnesses and injuries-and the medications used to treat them-can have affects on the brain causing problems with attention, learning, memory, behavior, socialization or emotional control.

Pediatric Neuropsychology and Psychotherapy 
Children, Adolescent and Young Adults
​Dr Foster’s training in pediatric neuropsychology enables her to work with infants and young children, as well as adolescents and young adults.  These include neurodevelopmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders.  A neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of a child’s overall cognitive functioning to help determine the effects of an injury, illness or medication and lay the groundwork for treatment as well as provide a baseline for tracking a child’s improvement.  Dr Foster  uses a variety of techniques that include testing, play therapy, and work with parents and child that typically take place once a week, depending on the child or family’s needs.  This includes working closely with families to ensure that their child receives the recommended therapies.

Pre-Natal and Post-Natal Stress & Trauma
The journey toward motherhood and being a mother is an extraordinary experience filled with joy, anticipation, and stress. These time periods can feel overwhelming for some expectant mothers, leading to emotional trauma during pregnancy. The effects of emotional trauma during pregnancy, often referred to as prenatal stress, have profound implications for both the mother and the developing fetus.  I specialize in understanding and addressing the impact of prenatal stress and trauma exposure.

• Screening and treatment of maternal mental health disorders, including anxiety and depression, in routine prenatal care is critical to mitigating the risk for CB-PTSD
• Early screening/identification and intervention for birth trauma is crucial, especially in the immediate postpartum period (1-5 days). 
• Routine postpartum care should integrate psychological screening alongside physical screening, including screening for birth trauma and PTSD

  Historical Trauma: Expecting mothers may carry the burden of past traumatic experiences, including childhood abuse, domestic violence, or losing a loved one. If unresolved, these traumas can resurface during pregnancy and affect emotional well-being.
  Current Life Stressors: Financial struggles, work-related stress, and relationship conflicts are common stressors that can trigger emotional trauma during pregnancy. These stressors may exacerbate anxiety and depression.
  Medical Complications: Complications during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes or preeclampsia, can be emotionally distressing. The fear and uncertainty of these conditions can contribute to toxic prenatal stress.
